Our group picked a book I was sure would be boring
It was a classic novel from the 1800s, and I groaned when we voted on it. I read the first 30 pages and almost quit. But then, during our Zoom chat last Tuesday, someone pointed out how the main character's choices mirrored modern politics. That one idea got me to keep going, and by page 100, I was totally hooked. Has a book club discussion ever completely flipped your view on a pick?

My club hated a book until we argued about it.

Remember hearing about a book club that almost fell apart over "American Psycho." Everyone called it gross and pointless until one person connected it to 80s corporate culture, then the whole debate got heated but way more interesting. Sometimes you need that one pushback to make you see a book differently, even if you still don't like it.
