Unpopular take: heavy euros are killing my game nights and I'm done pretending they're fun
I know this is going to get me roasted but I have to say it. Last Friday I hosted six people at my place in Akron and we tried a big 3 hour euro with like 40 pages of rules, and by the time we finished setup two guys were already on their phones. We got through maybe 90 minutes before someone faked a headache and left, and honestly I didn't blame him. I've been in this hobby 9 years and I keep watching people brag about owning these giant boxes but then nobody actually wants to play them. Give me a tight 45 minute game where I can teach it in 10 and we actually finish before midnight every single time. The people who say heavier equals deeper are usually the same folks who spend more time sleeving cards than playing them. Is my group the odd one out here or are we all just too scared to admit the big stuff mostly sits on the shelf?
