Just realized cheap paint chip cards look better framed than the actual art I paid for
I grabbed a stack of free paint chip cards from the hardware store on 7th Ave and taped them in a grid on my bare living room wall, mostly as a joke to fill the space. After staring at it for about 3 days, I swapped the tape for four dollar store frames and hung them straight with a cheap level from my junk drawer. A friend came over and asked where I bought the print, which honestly surprised me because it cost me under $8 total. Turns out those little color cards read like a real abstract piece once they are framed and spaced evenly. Has anyone else tried framing paint chips, and did you go with one shade per frame or a whole rainbow?
Have you tried spacing them out so the colors sort of talk to each other? Like one card per frame but hung at different heights so your eye jumps around the wall? I did a row of greens going light to dark in my hallway and it looks way more planned than it was. The single shade thing works if you keep the frames close, but the rainbow grid is the move for a big empty wall. You can pull one color out of the rainbow and repeat it in a few spots so it feels on purpose. Also check the back of the cards for the names, some of them are weirdly nice and you can write them on the frame mat.
