Showerthought: A customer's comment about his old Schwinn made me question my whole approach to 'upgrades'

He said, 'You know, this bike was perfect for me before I let everyone tell me it needed new everything.' Has anyone else had a client push back on a standard service recommendation?

Man that hits home. It's like my dad's old truck, runs fine but the mechanic always has a list of "critical" fixes. Or how phone updates just make things slower so you buy a new one. Feels like we're trained to see old or simple as broken. That customer was onto something.

My old laptop got so slow after updates I almost replaced it. Then I wiped it and installed a lightweight Linux distro, Zorin OS Lite. Thing runs faster than it did brand new now, and I saved like $800. Sometimes the fix is just removing the bloat.
