Two years back at the American Royal in Kansas City I was about to turn in chicken I swore was 165, until my $180 Thermapen read 152 in the thickest part, so I threw it back on for 8 more minutes. That one probe saved me from a DQ and I walked with 4th place overall, which paid way more than the thermometer cost. Anyone else got a cheap tool that bailed them out at a comp, or did you learn the hard way like I did with my old dial one?
