The guy at the church sale in Dayton said paperbacks aren't real books, and I can't stop thinking about it
I was digging through the 3 for $1 bins at a church sale in Dayton last Saturday when a guy next to me pointed at my stack of 9 old paperbacks and said, "Those aren't real books, you know. Hardcovers only." My stack cost me $3 total, and one of them is a 1978 copy of a Vonnegut I'd been hunting for months. He walked off with a single $8 hardcover and looked so proud of himself. So what's your rule, do you skip paperbacks completely, or do you grab them when the price is too good to pass up?
