I finally started checking the last page first at library sales and it changed my whole game
For years I would grab books at library sales and flip through the first few pages, thinking that was enough to spot water damage or loose bindings. Last Saturday at the Maplewood library sale I picked up a $1 copy of a John Grisham hardcover that looked perfect on the outside and inside cover. Got it home and realized pages 300 to 340 were completely stuck together with what looked like old coffee. That is when it hit me, I had been ignoring the back half of every book I bought for at least 3 years. Now I always crack open the middle and check the last chapter before I pay, and I have caught 4 bad books in the last two sales. Anyone else have a spot in the book they always check first?
