Showerthought: I gave a client a full-on skin fade with a 0.5 guard open and it looked way too harsh.
He had really pale, sensitive skin and the contrast was just too stark, made the cut look almost unfinished. I ended up going back over it with a 1 guard closed to soften the blend, which saved the haircut but added 15 minutes. Anyone have a better technique for blending on very light skin tones?

My cousin has that same skin tone and his barber always uses a 1 guard open to start the fade. Says it gives him more room to blend up without that harsh line.

That open guard trick works even better if your hair's a bit wavy too.

Yeah @wright.drew, my barber does the same thing and it works like a charm every time.
