Found a trick for cleaning clipper blades at a shop in Philly

I was visiting a buddy's barbershop in South Philly last month and saw him dunk his clipper blades in a little cup of rubbing alcohol between clients. He said it keeps the blades from gumming up and stops any bacteria buildup. I tried it at my station and my blades are lasting way longer now. Anyone else do this or have a better method?

Buddy of mine runs a shop in North Philly. He swears by a little ultrasonic cleaner he got off Amazon for like thirty bucks. Tosses the blades in with some simple green solution and runs it for five minutes at the end of each day. Said it gets the gunk out better than just dipping them.
