The one trick that stopped my late payment fees cold

I kept forgetting to move money to my credit card account before the due date and got hit with $35 fees three times in a row. Finally I set up an automatic transfer for the minimum payment, even though I pay way more than that usually. Has anyone else done this and found it backfired somehow?

omg the "kept forgetting to move money" part is so me lol. i did the exact same thing after getting hit with a $29 fee for the third time and honestly it saved my butt. the only thing that backfired a little was that i got too comfortable and stopped checking my balance entirely for like two months, which meant i was basically living off the minimum and not realizing how high my statement was getting. but that's more on me being lazy than the autopay itself. still, better than those stupid fees piling up.

Is it just me or does our whole lives run on this rhythm now... you set one thing on autopilot and before you know it you're on autopilot for everything? Like I started auto-paying my credit card and suddenly I'm auto-paying my rent, my streaming services, my groceries through a subscription box. Then I got a dog and signed up for automatic food delivery. Next thing I know I'm three months deep into a yoga app I never opened because autopay just kept running. It's like we're training ourselves to just let systems handle our mistakes instead of actually learning from them.
