The day our small town bank's system crashed during tax season
It was a Tuesday in early April, and our local bank's whole payment system just stopped working. I was trying to pay my quarterly taxes online, and the site kept timing out. I drove over, and the line was out the door. The manager said a core processor update from the night before had a bug, and they couldn't take deposits or process any electronic payments. For about six hours, nobody could pay bills or get cash. It showed me how fragile the whole system is when one small bank's tech fails. They rely on these big outside companies, and when it breaks, regular people are stuck. Has your bank ever had a total outage like that?

Man that sounds like a total nightmare, especially during tax season. I can just picture the line out the door, everyone stressed. My credit union's app went down for a whole afternoon once and I couldn't transfer money for rent. It's crazy how one messed up update from some company we've never heard of can just freeze everything. Makes you feel pretty helpless when you can't even access your own money.

Yeah, I feel you and @ivan82 on that helpless feeling. My bank's app crashed right when I was trying to split a dinner bill, and I had to awkwardly tell my friends I'd pay them back in IOUs and good vibes. It's wild how a single line of bad code from some far-off server farm can turn you into a deadbeat for a day.
