Accidentally set up my direct deposit to the wrong account for 3 months straight

I switched banks in January after moving to Phoenix and somehow typed my old routing number into my new employer's payroll system. For three months my paycheck went to a closed account and bounced around before I noticed during tax prep. Has anyone else had a bank actually catch this mistake before you did?

Banks are busy enough dealing with actual fraud and people who forget they have money in their accounts. It's not their job to babysit every adult who can't double check a routing number before hitting submit. You messed up three times in a row and expected a random clerk to catch it for you? That's kind of a stretch. At some point personal responsibility has to kick in, especially when we're talking about your own paycheck. The system worked exactly how it was supposed to, it bounced because the account didn't exist, and the only one who dropped the ball here was you.
