Everyone kept saying pinch off the suckers on my balcony cherry tomatoes, so I did it for like 6 weeks and got maybe 4 sad little tomatoes total. Then last Tuesday I got lazy and skipped it, and by this Tuesday there were 11 new flowers and the plant looks way happier in its 5 gallon pot. Turns out on a south facing balcony in Phoenix the plant needs those leaves for shade, mine were getting scorched at 105 degrees. Now I'm scared to touch it again, has anyone else just let their tomatoes go wild on a hot balcony?
