Serious question, did the cardboard sheet mulch trick actually work for anybody? My crabgrass went nuts
I laid down cardboard and 3 inches of mulch on my side yard in Tucson back in April, and by August the crabgrass was pushing through like I never did anything. I pulled a corner up after 8 weeks and the cardboard was already mush with roots punching straight through it. I think my mistake was only one layer of cardboard plus the summer heat cooking whatever was under it. Has anyone in a hot dry climate gotten cardboard to actually smother grass, or did I just waste a Saturday and 6 bags of mulch?
