Why does nobody talk about mite dust on the coop roof

I was real skeptical when my neighbor in Austin swore that DE would fix my mite problem, thought it was just old timer talk. Then I dusted the roost bars and the ceiling corners last Tuesday and checked the next morning, huge difference in how the hens were acting. The key was hitting the roof seams cause thats where the little guys hide during the day, not just the bedding. How often do you guys reapply after rain or humidity spikes?
