I finally got my hens to stop pecking at each other by hanging a cabbage from a rope

After three weeks of seeing feathers missing from my Buff Orpingtons, I hung a whole cabbage from a string in the run. They spent all day pecking at it instead of each other, and the problem stopped. Has anyone else found a cheap toy that keeps chickens busy?

My neighbor's old CDs on a string work just as well.

Look at my neighbor's old CDs hanging up, they're all faded and cracked. I'm with linda_perry14 on this, it feels like we're making a big deal over nothing. Birds probably just get used to shiny stuff after a while anyway. My aunt's garden has those spinning pinwheels and the birds still eat all her berries.
