Can we talk about the summer I built my kids a treehouse out of a $140 pile of fence boards
Back in 2011 I threw together a treehouse in the big oak behind our place in Lawrence using nothing but a stack of mismatched fence boards and a box of deck screws I had sitting in the garage. The first weekend it rained and the whole platform sagged about 3 inches on one side because I forgot to brace the corner. The next Saturday my neighbor Dale came over, looked at it for maybe 10 seconds, and said "you put your joists the wrong way, bud" and we spent the afternoon flipping them. It ended up holding all three kids plus a cooler for the rest of that summer. Anybody else got a build that only worked after somebody else pointed out the obvious?
