That one tiny bird feeder trick I picked up from a park ranger

I saw a park ranger at a local nature center last weekend and he mentioned putting feeders 3 feet from windows to stop birds hitting the glass. I had no idea distance mattered that much. I moved my main feeder about 3.5 feet from the kitchen window and I haven't had a single thud in 4 days. Has anyone else tried moving their feeder closer or further from the house?

putting feeders 3 feet from windows to stop birds hitting the glass" - huh. I mean, i've had my feeder right outside my sliding glass door for like 3 years and i've maybe had 2 thuds total. are people really having that many bird strikes? feels like a lot of fuss over something that barely happens unless you've got a crazy reflective window situation going on. but hey, if you're seeing a difference thats cool, i just wonder if it's actually that big of a problem for most folks.

Had one window where birds kept hitting it so I moved the feeder to the opposite side of the yard. Problem solved. Might just be a location thing for some people.
