My water pump died 200 miles from home and the dealer quoted me $1,100, so I called my warranty company instead

This happened on a Sunday drive back from Austin when my temp gauge spiked and coolant was pouring out near San Marcos. The dealer said water pumps aren't usually covered, but my warranty guy pointed to the cooling system clause and ended up paying $780 of it. Has anyone else had a shop try to tell them a covered part wasn't covered?
