Took 6 hours to climb one damn maple because of a hidden wire
Got called to trim back a big silver maple in someone's backyard. Looked straightforward from the ground, open canopy, good access. Got my harness on and started climbing, then my throwline got snagged on something up high. Figured it was a dead branch I missed. Nope, there was a goddamn old cable line buried under like 15 years of bark growth. Had to come down, get the pole saw on an extension, and spend 2 more hours carefully cutting around it without hitting it. Whole job that should've taken 2 hours took my entire afternoon. Has anyone else found random utility lines grown into a tree like that?

Dude thats brutal. Found an old phone line completely swallowed by a locust tree once, had to cut the whole thing down because the wire was wrapped all the way through the trunk. Couldnt even tell from the outside. End up spending half the day messing with it and half the profit went to disposal fees. Its like these trees just eat utility lines over time and no one ever marks them. Feel your pain on the time wasted.
