My cheap pole saw head snapped on a simple job

I was trimming some oak limbs over a shed last month and the head on my off-brand pole saw just sheared off. It was a $60 tool I got online, and I lost about two hours of work dealing with the mess and getting my other saw. In my experience, that bargain price cost me more in time than I saved. Has anyone found a mid-range pole saw that holds up without breaking the bank?

Actually, cheap tools are fine for most people. That failure sounds like a fluke or maybe user error. Plenty of those budget options last for years with careful use.

Been there with a cheap drill that gave up halfway through a shelf project. Upgraded to a mid-range brand on sale and the difference was HUGE. It just feels solid in your hand and doesn't bog down. For stuff I use all the time, spending a bit more saved me so much frustration later.
