Old silver dime vs. modern proof set, which direction to go?
I had $80 to spend at a flea market in Denver last month and had to pick between a crusty 1946 dime I dug out of a jar and a sealed 1970 proof set. I went with the dime because it felt like real history, and after cleaning it gently it turned out to be a semi-key date worth way more than the set. Has anyone else gambled on a rough old coin over a shiny set and come out ahead or totally burned?
