My light meter died mid-roll and I just guessed the whole time

Last Saturday in Portland my old Sekonic just stopped reading anything, no battery issue, dead as a rock. I shot the rest of that roll of Tri-X by sunny 16 and memory, about 14 frames. Two came out underexposed, but honestly the rest looked better than what I normally get, anyone else ever tried ditching the meter on purpose?
