A lab tech in Tucson told me to stop rewinding my film slowly, and my scratches went away
Back in March I was getting these hairline scratches on every roll out of my Canon AE-1, and the tech at the counter in Tucson said my slow gentle rewinding was actually dragging grit across the pressure plate. I started just cranking it back at normal speed and 14 rolls later, not one scratch. Is the slow rewind thing a myth I fell for, or did I just get lucky?
