Spent 8 months rewinding my own rolls before I figured out my bulk loader was scratching every single one
I loaded about 40 rolls of HP5 from a Watson bulk loader over 8 months and kept blaming the scratches on my Paterson reels and the lab. Last Tuesday I finally shined a flashlight inside the loader and saw a tiny grit speck fused to the felt light trap, right where the film slides out. Every roll I pulled had a 3 inch scratch running through the whole strip, and I had been tossing it up to bad luck the entire time. So now I'm out a bulk roll and a bunch of shots from a trip to Tucson that I can't reshoot. How often do you all check the felt on your loaders, or am I the only one who never did?
