Vent: chose the cheaper CNA program over the fancy one, now I'm drowning in catch-up work
Back in January I had to pick between a $3,800 accelerated CNA course at a big hospital system and a $1,200 community college one that ran 6 weeks longer. I took the cheap route because money was tight. Man, the cheap one did NOT prep me for real charting or patient transfers. Now I'm 2 weeks into my first job and asking the charge nurse how to do basic stuff she clearly thinks I should know from training. No one said the shorter program meant I'd teach myself half the skills. Has anyone else picked the budget cert and regretted it, or am I just unlucky?

Changed my mind on this after reading your post, I used to think any cert was better than none but now I see the program quality really matters for actual job skills. The cheap route can save money upfront but it costs you time and confidence later, which is way harder to buy back. You aren't unlucky, you just found out the hard way that some shortcuts have hidden fees, right?
