Last month I told a patient to stop stretching her tight hamstring and she looked at me like I had 3 heads
She came in with back pain, been doing the standard toe touch stretch 3 times a day for 5 years. MRI showed her spine was fine, but her hamstring was pulling her pelvis into a posterior tilt. I had her stop stretching entirely and added glute bridges instead. Two weeks later pain dropped from a 7 to a 2. Now I check everyone's stretch routine before I give advice, wish I had figured that out 10 years ago. Anyone else flip their opinion on static stretching after seeing this?

5 years of stretching seems like a lot, but one patient doesn't mean stretching is bad for everyone.
