PSA: Found out the hard way that old safety wire pliers can mess up your day

Was doing a prop governor overhaul last week and grabbed a pair of safety wire pliers from the back of my box, the ones I had for like 8 years. Figured they were fine. Halfway through a wire job on a King Air, the jaws slipped and the wire snagged my finger pretty good. Turns out the teeth were worn down smooth. I never even thought to check. Learned my lesson after that one. Has anyone else had a tool just fail on you like that when you least expected it?

Sounds like you just had old tools that wore out after 8 years, not really a big deal. Check your stuff once in a while and move on.
