Rant: My air fryer basket coating peeled off after 3 months

I bought a mid-range model from Target back in April and used it almost daily for chicken wings and frozen fries. Last week I noticed the nonstick coating flaking right into my food, and now I'm worried about eating those little black bits. Is there any way to fix this safely, or do I just need to replace the basket?
