Just realized my air fryer was burning everything because I never preheated it

Spent 3 months wondering why my chicken came out dry and burnt on the outside, then my sister saw me toss it in cold and told me I had to let it run empty for 5 minutes first, anyone else miss this step when they started?

Right? It's like everything has secret rules nobody tells you about. My whole life is figuring out stuff that should be obvious but isn't. Like no one ever told me you have to let a cast iron pan heat up slowly or it'll warp. Honestly just feels like the world is built on these hidden steps you have to learn the hard way.

Jumped right in with that same mistake myself. It's like half the stuff we buy assumes we already know the secret handshake. In my experience, it's the same with ovens, grills, even coffee makers sometimes. You just expect it to work out of the box but there's always one weird quirk you gotta figure out the hard way.
