Burned $180 on an AI ad tool that just guessed my audience

So last month I signed up for this AI targeting platform that promised to find my exact customers using predictive data. It sounded like magic honestly, so I put $180 on it for a 30 day test. The ads it generated were fine, but the audience segments were total garbage, it kept targeting people who liked hiking when I sell desk organizers. After 3 weeks I had 22 clicks and zero sales, and when I asked support they said the algorithm needs at least $500 more to learn. I killed it and went back to manual interest targeting on Meta for free. Has anyone else had luck with these cheaper AI targeting tools, or is this just how they all work at this price point?
